I can plug a mic into the DDJ-SX1 as it has separate booth controls for a mic OR the Audient id14 if I wanted to. The DDJ-SX1 also routes into the Audient via XLR cables and outputs to my KRK 6s via 3/4inch jack. I have the Audient sound card plugged into my laptop and set as the input and output source for high quality recording and monitoring. DDJ-SX1 (4 channel, so I have 2 dedicated to laptop and 2 dedicated to vinyl) Any advice to catch me up to speed would be great.ĭon't know if this helps, but I find I can do everything I need and more with: I think I am most confused by Serato being a part of the equation and I don't know enough about other setups to understand if I will even still use Serato once I start upgrading to DJ stuff that has proper pots and faders. I literally just need two outputs at the moment, but please help me have an idea of what your setups require and I'll do my best to apply that to my own gear. I can stream my Serato mixes with software, but do higher end setups need additional outputs and gear to stream?
Am I realistically going to end up with something like a Yamaha MG16XU to route a 4-channel DJ mixer, a sampler, one microphone, and possibly a vinyl deck or two while leaving 2 channels free for a separate, work-related audio source?ĭo better controllers and mixers have enough proper outputs on them to bypass something like a Yamaha MG16XU to go straight to monitors in a home setup and I would only want an analog channel mixer for my other audio sources?
I don't think I'll be pushing to learn how to handle professional club setups anytime soon, but the DDJ-SB3 is totally slimmed down to just two (unbalanced) outputs. My question is, if I stick with the DJ stuff and start upgrading my home setup, what sort of signal flow should I expect with next levels of gear assuming I only want to use near-field monitors? I'll be getting some kind of mixer and a Yamaha HS8S sub so that I can improve that set up and to give me the potential option to use the monitors for separate audio sources. wavs in Serato directly to my Yamaha HS7 monitors. I picked up a Pioneer DDJ-SB3 last summer to have fun during quarantine and I just play. I'm just looking for some basic gear advice to hopefully buy the right stuff that I won't outgrow in the next few years (used only for DJ playback and not for music production).
